Safeguarding Policy

At The Extra Daughter, keeping our clients safe is at the heart of everything we do. We recognise that many of the people we support may be vulnerable, and we are fully committed to protecting their wellbeing.

1. Our commitment

  • We have a zero-tolerance policy for abuse, neglect, or exploitation of any kind.

  • All staff are carefully recruited, including enhanced DBS checks and references.

  • Every team member is trained to recognise safeguarding concerns and knows how to respond appropriately.

2. What safeguarding means to us

Safeguarding is about:

  • Protecting people’s right to live safely, free from harm and abuse

  • Promoting wellbeing and independence

  • Listening to and respecting the people we support

  • Acting quickly and appropriately if something doesn’t feel right

3. Reporting concerns

If a staff member, client, or family member raises a concern, we will:

  • Take it seriously and listen carefully

  • Record the concern promptly and accurately

  • Report it to the relevant safeguarding authority where required (e.g. the local authority, social services, or police)

  • Support the individual throughout the process

We investigate any concerns thoroughly and transparently, and we always act in the best interests of the person at risk.

4. Responsibilities

  • All staff are responsible for safeguarding and must act if they see or suspect harm.

  • Management ensure safeguarding procedures are followed and updated.

  • Clients and families are encouraged to share any concerns — no matter how small — so we can address them quickly.

5. Confidentiality

We respect privacy, but safeguarding comes first. If someone is at risk, we may need to share information with relevant authorities to keep them safe. We will always do this with sensitivity and transparency.
